Think about your pets

If it looks like you’ll be moving on a hot day and you have pets around, it might be a good idea to see if you can get someone to look after them on moving day. Moving house can be stressful enough for pets without the added factor of excessive heat so relocating them to a neutral environment until the chaos subsides might be a good idea. If you don’t have anyone to look after them, put them in a quiet room in the house and keep it as cool as possible until you’re ready to move them across to the new place.

Keep hydrated

If you’ve ever moved house before, you’ll know how intense the process can be physically and this can have a serious impact on your health in the hot weather. Keep a steady supply of water available and drink it throughout the day. If you find the heat getting the better of you, don’t try to push through – take a seat in the shade and take a few moments to rehydrate before you get going again.

Be prepared by cranking the air conditioning and fans so you have a cool retreat on both ends.
